Missing Peace Art Space INTERNATIONAL PEACE DAY CELEBRATION
Sept. 21, 2010
INAUGURATION OF THE
URBAN YOUTH PEACE ACADEMY

International Peace Day Sept 21 2010 was celebrated in Dayton at the Missing Peace Art Space
and the Urban Youth Peace Academy was inaugurated.
Dayton Mayor Gary Leitzell provided a proclamation for the event which
City Commissioner Nan Whaley read for us and she also cut the ribbon leading to the
Academy's new facility at the Art Space.
City Commissioner Matt Joseph was also in attendance along with representatives
from the Dayton Police Department, Montgomery County Commissioners and Dayton City Schools.
It was a wonderful event that local news chose not to share with the people
of the Miami Valley.
(Dayton Daily News did give us a very nice pre-event write up though, thank you!)
Montgomery County Commissioner Debbie Lieberman congratulates students
of StreetPeace and Urban Youth Peace Academy on International Peace Day, Set 21, 2010.
The Commissioner read a resolution from the Commissioners for the students.

StreetPeace / Peace Academy Member Robert Austin speaks at our International Peace Day event.
Robert expressed what many of us were feeling about the lack of news people at such a positive event.
The Dayton Ohio that we live in isn't represented correctly by our news.
Thank you Robert for such excellent remarks.
Songambere Choir, consisting of an ensemble of Central African youth residing in Dayton,
celebrated the United Nations International Day of Peace in
Dayton Ohio singing songs from their homelands.
These young ladies added such beauty and spirit to the peace day event.
Our community is blessed to have such talented people who come from
so many different cultural backgrounds.
This is what makes the Dayton Ohio area such a wonderful place to live.
